It is time for another Google Analytics report from me. Another quarter has gone and it has without doubt been the best this blog has ever had. In case you missed my last report you can see it here. My traffic got a big organic traffic boost in the beginning of February and from that day on my overall traffic almost doubled. I guess the increase must have something to do with a Google algorithm change however my PR is still the same (PR3).
My Google Analytics Traffic for Q1 2012
Traffic Types
For the first quarter of 2012 my traffic was spread like this:
- Search Engines: 73.48%
- Referring Sites: 13.57%
- Direct Traffic: 11.86%
- Twitter: 0.63%
- Other: 0.46%
Search Engines:
- Google: 94.42%
- Yahoo: 3.03%
- Bing: 0.70%
Google is still in top of the world in front of Yahoo and Bing. The rest of the Search Engines are all under 0.5 percent of traffic.
Top 5 Referring Sites:
1. StumbleUpon.com
2. t.co (Twitter)
3. techworkdk.tumblr.com
4. Geeks4share.com
5. Triberr.com
This quarter there are two new Referring Sites in top 5. The first one is t.co that in case you don’t know it is traffic from Twitter. I have seen a lot of other bloggers talking about how great Twitter is to promote yourself and how much traffic you can get from Twitter, but it have not really worked out for me until now. One of the reason why it might work out now is that I simply just have got more followers (above 500) and another reason might be that I have implemented the Tweet old post plug-in to auto tweet some of my old post when I sleep myself. The other new Referring Site on my Top 5 this quarter is Triberr. Triberr is, in case you don’t know it, a Twitter based network where you can be invited to join your Twitter friends tribes and then kind of agree to retweet each other’s new blog post. I am in 3 different tribes at the moment where we share each other posts. In some of those tribes there are people with more than 10.000 followers sharing my blog posts. That gives me a change to reach a lot bigger audience compared to when I tweet to my own 500 followers.
Top 10 visitors by Country:
1. United States
2. Denmark
3. India
4. United Kingdom
5. Australia
6. Canada
7. Germany
8. Netherlands
9. Philippines
10. Finland
My Top 10 Countries are the exact same as last quarter, but some of them have switch position on the list. In this first quarter of 2012 my blog have had visitors from 160 different countries.
Conclusion
To sum things up this first quarter of 2012 had been awesome to me when it comes to generate traffic to my blog. As you can see below I have more than doubled my traffic for this quarter compared to the last quarter of 2011. This increase is mainly due to the big increase in incoming organic traffic. This tells me that all my hard work on SEO and link building for this blog are beginning to pay off and that is a great motivation and inspiration for me to continue my work 🙂
Now it is your turn. How has your start of 2012 been when it comes to traffic? Have you also seen a big boost in organic traffic for your blog? Please drop me a comment below.

StubmleUpon is the top referring site, that’s nice and I too get good amount traffic from there. But not many people use it and I’m sure they’re missing a great traffic source.
Hi Aaron
Yep, when it comes to referring sites StumbleUpon can really bring a lot of traffic to a blog if you use it the right way.
Congratulation on your Google Analytics Report, am glad that your site is improving and I look forward to see your next report!
Valentine
Thank you Valentine
Congrats on the traffic, I almost had the same exact % for search engine traffic as my blog is about 73% as well. The comparisons show how quickly traffic can grow.
Thank you Justin.
Yes traffic can change very quickly when Google make changes to their algorithm, but as long it is for the better I don’t complain 😉
Ultimate thomes, like your stats I am also thinking to reveal my blog stats. thanks sharing, stats are really motivated.
I would love to read about your stats too one day. I find it very motivating too.
Fantastic work Thomas. Can’t say the same about my blog though, as I have been working in fits and starts and haven’t really focused on SEO this quarter. I’m just hoping things settle down soon. Posts such as these are an inspiration. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you Adeline
I love reading abouts other bloggers stats too to see how they have been doing and what have been working out best for them.
Nicely done, Thomas – 10K is a huge threshold!
Now let’s move our earnings to align better with the traffic. lol
Hi Ana
It is a huge milestone for me. In January I had only about 5.000, in February about 8.000. It has really been fantastic months for me 🙂 It is great for motivation.
Stumble upon is the top referral site for me too next is google and then twitter. My traffic from Oct – Dec (I started blogging in October) is 900 visits, Jan – March 11,000 visits, my blog really took off the ground after some re-design, new features, and more content.
